Art can speak volumes and create connections. Art is for everyone.
Sophie Wardle is a visual artist and founder of Nau Arts, an art space in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. She recently received her MA in Fine Art from the University of Gloucestershire.
Sophie aims to make art that is accessible and relevant and to work on projects that bring people together. Recent work has looked at Preston’s response to its iconic Bus Station at 50 and the meditative qualities of the cloisters at Gloucester Cathedral. She is currently taking part in ArtShapes Emergent’s programme.
Sophie lived in Munich, studied physics at Imperial College and worked in international tax. A mother of 2, Sophie was diagnosed with early onset Parkinsons Disease in 2007. This was a catalyst for personal and professional change. She founded Cheltenham’s Nau Arts in 2017, providing studio, workshop and exhibition space to local emerging artists.
