Do you sketch?
If you do, do you sketch every day? It’s totally addictive. I used to take a paperback with me if I knew I was going somewhere that involved a wait. Nowadays I bring my lovely Venetian Fabriano sketchbook with me everywhere. And I use it. And I find that practice, while not making perfect, makes me looser and more direct in my drawing. I’ve speeded up and that’s helping with my observation skills.
So, if you are interested in drawing, perhaps you are just starting out, go get a sketch book, get some pens and pencils and go and LOOK at something and get it down on paper.
I read somewhere that if you don’t want passers-by to stare you go sit with your back against the wall. Then they can’t hover behind you! I’ve tried it. It works.
im back in school…life drawing to be precise…missed it BIG time over the summer…we start with quick 3-4 minute sketches. I did continuous line today and came up with this (admittedly I’ve had a digital play with it this evening but the lines are the original sketch). Nice to be back at the drawing board.
I am practising drawing. But my style keeps on coming through. Love it or hate it?
So this week marks the beginning of term for my art class. I’ve joined drawing as well as life. This week’s projects have focused on tone and using pen and ink rather than paints. I hope you enjoy.
I haven’t knitted in ages but I still turn up to the knitting club I have been a member of for the last few years. Today I intended to knit, I really did, but instead I did a fairly sketchy sketch. It’s not Hoch Arte but it captures the sociability, cake and colours a night knitting can bring. Enjoy, I did!
A new idea…hand drawn light shades depicting homes…this is a prototype. Thoughts?
